Factors Modifying the Reaction of Alpha Staphylolysin to Heat *
نویسنده
چکیده
The generally accepted view that alpha staphylolysin is thermolabile has recently been questioned by Smith.2" He further demonstrated that some samples of toxin were rendered inactive by heating at 60° C. for 30 minutes, yet retained considerable lytic activity when heated for the same period at 80°. The thermostability of staphylolysin during certain stages of its evolution in shake cultures, as well as the phenomenon of greater stability at higher than at lower temperatures, have been fully confirmed. The present report is concerned with an attempt to elucidate further the mechanisms underlying this unusual behavior toward heat.

Blue light treatment of Pseudomonas aeruginosa: Strong bactericidal activity, synergism with antibiotics and inactivation of virulence factors
Pseudomonas aeruginosa is among the most common pathogens responsible for both acute and chronic infections of high incidence and severity. Additionally, P. aeruginosa resistance to conventional antimicrobials has increased rapidly over the past decade. Therefore, it is crucial to explore new therapeutic options, particularly options that specifically target the pathogenic mechanisms of this mi...
متن کاملEpidemic population structure of Pseudomonas aeruginosa: evidence for a clone that is pathogenic to the eye and that has a distinct combination of virulence factors.
The genetic structure of a population of Pseudomonas aeruginosa, isolated from patients with keratitis, endophthalmitis, and contact lens-associated red eye, contact lens storage cases, urine, ear, blood, lungs, wounds, feces, and the environment was determined by multilocus enzyme electrophoresis. The presence and characteristics of virulence factors were determined by restriction fragment len...

Introduction: Working in hot and inappropriate climate condition is one of the most common problems of occupational health which can lead to heat induced diseases and even death. Heat stress may impair the cognitive processes involved in decision-making and converting simple tasks to complex ones. The aim of present study was to assess selective attention and reaction time among workers in a ca...

Material and Methods: The various items and factors related to the awareness and practice of the workers were identif...
متن کاملEffects of thermal diffusion and chemical reaction on MHD transient free convection flow past a porous vertical plate with radiation, temperature gradient dependent heat source in slip flow regime
An analytical investigation is conducted to study the unsteady free convection heat and mass transfer flow through a non-homogeneous porous medium with variable permeability bounded by an infinite porous vertical plate in slip flow regime while taking into account the thermal radiation, chemical reaction, the Soret number, and temperature gradient dependent heat source. The flow is considered u...
